What is Diversitours?
Diversitours is a not-for-profit guided walking tour which shows the vibrance and cultural diversity that exists in a highly multicultural area.
Inspired by the Diversitours project in Valencia and Bilbao, Diversitours in its original format was funded by the Council of Europe in 2021.
In 2024 Diversitours is introduced to Australia by iGen Foundation, an Australian-based charitable organisation. The City of Salisbury has funded Diversitours and is the first Australian location.
Diversitours guides connect locals and visitors with the history of neighbourhoods, landmarks and small businesses; Guides highlight the social, business, faith and cultural diversity within neighbourhoods.

Where are we up to in setting up Diversitours in the City of Salisbury?Applications to become a Diversitours Guide closed on 8 November and we have been very busy beginning the interview process. We interviewed 29 people and had more than 3 x the number of applicants we expected which shows the level of support and interest in not only becoming a Guide but in supporting Diversitours to be up and running in Salisbury. We're really proud and excited that local residents are so supportive! On 3 December we started training Guides and there are nine weekly sessions. During the week of 24 March 2025 we will begin our tours in Salisbury, meeting at the Community Hub on the corner of John and Church streets. If you would like to be one of our first tour guests, please let us know by registering at the form below. Thanks again for your interest, your support and for assisting us to create the first Diversitours in Australia.

Who are Diversitours Guides? Our Guides are all local residents of Salisbury. From the beginning it was really important to us that Guides know the local area and will be showing guests their city. Our Guides come from the language, faith and cultural backgrounds of Salisbury - people who were born in Australia, people who were born overseas and First Nations Australians. It's too late to become one of our founding group of Guides but you're welcome to register to be a walking tour guest when we begin in March 2025. You can register on our home page. We hope to see you soon.

Hi I'm Carmina originally from South Africa, I now call the City of Salisbury home with my family. I’m passionate about exploring cultures, meeting people, and discovering diverse stories. As a walking tour guide with Diversitours, I’m excited to showcase Salisbury’s rich history, vibrant community, and unique landmarks. With a background in graphic design, I have a keen eye for creative spaces. Having led bushwalking tours in South Africa, I’m eager to guide you through Salisbury’s fascinating blend of cultures and history. I speak Afrikaans and English.

Hello, my name is Jaclyn, I am one of the Diversitours tour guides in Salisbury. I currently study politics at university hoping to keep South Australia’s flora and fauna nurtured. I am an at home chef creating delicacies for my family and animals. I love staying healthy by going to the gym, I also love reading all kinds of literature as well as listening to the opera and watching ballets at the festival theatre.

Hi, I'm Billie, and I'm proud to call Salisbury my home. I was born and raised here, went to school locally and spent over 10 years of my career based in this vibrant community. I have a passion for history and love exploring places of significance. Meeting new people and learning about different cultures is what I enjoy most, especially here in Salisbury where diversity thrives. Fun Fact: I'm a bookworm and the library is my favourite spot! I speak Serbian and English.

Hola! I’m Bel, a proud citizen of the City of Salisbury. I've lived and worked in the area for almost twenty years. I am Australian born, with strong ties to my Chilean heritage. I am fluent in Spanish, and am interested in other languages and cultures. I'm a professional singer, who has performed all over SA, interstate, and internationally and I’m a bilingual children’s entertainer, and English tutor. Throughout the years of living in this vibrant and culturally diverse area, I’ve discovered multicultural small businesses, landmarks, colourful history, community centres, sporting and recreational facilities, and places of worship. These make Salisbury a fun and interesting place to live; and I’m beyond excited to share my amazing city with everyone as a Diversitours guide!

Hi I'm Miguel, a vocalist and musician based in Salisbury. I've been actively involved in the local music scene, front-acting at various Filipino-Australian musical events as well as performing at the Mawson Lakes Christmas Carols. I'm involved in Salisbury's community radio station, PBA-FM co-hosting the Filipino Program, 'Tara Ulit sa Pinas'. I studied at the Elder Conservatorium of Music and participated in jazz performances as well as releasing original music on Spotify, contributing to Adelaide’s vibrant music community. Forced to leave Afghanistan by the Taliban, my family and I migrated as refugees to Pakistan through the mountains by donkeys and camels. After a while UN gave us refugee cards to live in Pakistan legally and I became a TV host and voice over artist. After applying to the UN and years of interviews and investigation, we were offered settlement in Australia. My aim is to help and support women in Afghanistan and advocate for them here in Australia especially to parliamentarians and women activists since September 2021 when the Taliban took over Afghanistan. I am the Founder of the Afghan Cultural Association of South Australia and in 2018 President of Afghan Australian Women Federation. I am Mursal and I speak Dari, Farsi, Hazaragi, Urdu, Hindi and English.
